Hello, friends and family!
Today I posted on my Chalkydoodles blog some important information regarding the new Consumer Protection Safety Information Act of 2008 (CPSIA) and the impact it may soon have on the Children's Toy and Clothing industry.
As most of you know, I have a small online retail and wholesale business making and selling oilcloth and chalkcloth products for children and home decor. My Chalkydoodles children's line could be directly affected by these regulations if lawmakers do not implement changes to them soon.
There is a massive grassroots effort mounting in the online blogger community, and several U.S. trade associations, including the Association of American Publishers and the Toy Industry Association are requesting that the CPSC amend the rules to allow for "common sense" application of the lead and chemical testing regulations to items as basic and "non-toxic" as children's books. The issue is also receiving coverage from the traditional press, with an article published in the L.A. times this past week.
If you are interested in finding out more about this legislation and how you can help to save the handmade children's toy and apparel industry, please click here to go to the posting on my Chalkydoodles blog to read more about this issue and to find out how you can help.
Take care,
Lyn
